Privacy Policy
Last updated 13 October 2026
This policy explains how Cafeideas handles personal information collected through Specified by Cafeideas, a specification site for commercial furniture. Cafeideas is an Australian company and handles personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who we are
The operator of this site is JCD Ideas Holdings Pty Ltd, trading as Cafeideas, of 111-113 Regent Street, Chippendale NSW 2008. In this policy, “Cafeideas”, “we” and “us” mean that company.
What we collect
We collect personal information only when you send an enquiry through the Start a project form. That information is:
- your name, company and role
- your email address and phone number
- your project details
- the message you write to us
The site has no accounts, takes no payments and keeps no marketing lists. You can browse it without giving us any personal information.
How we collect it
We collect your information directly from you, when you complete and submit the Start a project form. We do not collect it from third parties.
How we use it
We use your details to read and respond to your enquiry and to continue the specification conversation with you. We do not use them for any other purpose, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
Who we share it with
Enquiries are sent to the Cafeideas sales team at sales@cafeideas.com.au and stored in a database managed by Cafeideas. We do not sell your information or share it with anyone else, except where the law requires us to disclose it or where you ask us to.
Overseas disclosure
The enquiry database is hosted by Supabase in its Sydney, Australia region, and the website itself is served by Cloudflare. Emails to our sales team are sent through a transactional email provider. If your information is ever stored or accessed outside Australia, we will take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for 24 months from the date you send them. After that they are deleted.
Security
We store enquiries in a database managed by Cafeideas and limit access to the people who need it to respond. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to measure how the site is used: which pages are visited, how visitors arrive and what device and browser they use. We turn on IP anonymisation, so your full IP address is not stored in the reports. We use this information in aggregate to improve the site, not to identify you.
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser called _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier. They give each browser a random identifier and last up to two years.
You can refuse or delete these cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way.
Google may process this data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Google’s own privacy policy explains how it handles it. This applies to usage data only; enquiries are handled as described above.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it or delete it, by contacting us using the details below. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us using the details below and we will investigate and reply in writing. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
